This is a traditional tune dating at least from the late 19th century and played widely across the American South. It has been attributed to a homesteader who, despite the derision of his neighbours, managed to grow so many premium quality potatoes from his poor sandy soil that he was able to throw the biggest wedding in the county and dance till dawn with his new wife Betty. We had this tune on our to-do list for some time, and getting together to record the album finally gave us the opportunity to work out our own arrangement.
